Merkel 147E date

Does anyone know how to date the newer Merkel guns? Model 147E, serial number 382963. On the left barrel, in three lines, is

GSI Inc. T'ville AL
GEBR. MERKEL SUHL
MADE IN GERMANY

On the barrel flats is what I think is a date code - 3AA
Any ideas?

3AA stands for March 2000. A= 0, B = 1, C = 2, - - K = 9.
