  • 8x57JR reloading data

Due to the lack of 8x57JR (.318) ammunition availability, I am getting ready to get back into reloading. The rounds will be for a Franz Kettner drilling. I plan on using 200 gr Woodleigh .318 bullets, Hornady 8x57 JRS brass sized and trimmed (I have RCBS 8x57JR dies). I have multiple manuals that have 8x57 JS and JRS loading data--none specify JR. Would the JRS initial powder loadings be the starting point or would it be wise to back off say 10%. Thank!

    rgsiii,
You should be able to start with the "starting" loads, but be aware Wiederladen (1989) shows 2800 bar( 40610 psi) as maximum pressure for the IR and 2900(42060 psi) for IRS. Woodleigh or the manufacturer of what ever powder you intend to use may supply data as well.
