9x47

Just a quick question, was the 9x47 invented to refresh shot out 8.15x47 barrels, or for other reasons. I seem to run across this cartridge in Schuetzen rifles while searching for just the right 22 Schuetzen.

The 9x46R on the Mauser MB base is the older cartridge, from about 1880. It was the most popular target cartridge until the mid-1890 when the then new 8.15x46R developed by Frohn in 1890 started to replace it as the standard Schuetzen cartridge.
