  • A question for more knowledgeable members

    Hello All
Please go to the Gunbroker website and under rifles, search on Schuetzen, a few Schuetzen rifles should come up. What is your opinion of the rim fire one with a starting bid of $1650. Something just does not look right. I own 8 Schuetzen rifles & have examined many more, I have never seen one with a 24 inch barrel or with that barrel contour. I am looking for a nice rim fire Schuetzen to shoot indoors when the Kansas winter winds howl.
    Thanks Mike

No Martini action, of course. Seems to be a take down Buechel action. Most likely made for retail by Hans or Heinrich Triebel, Augsburg, by Udo Anschuetz, Zella – Mehlis, UAZ mark. The barrel seems to have been shortened and turned down from full to half octagon. At least, the front sight and it's base are very unusual for such a German target rifle, especially as it is combined with an otherwise typical elaborate Diopter/peep sight. Obviously refinished/reblued. It seems to be converted by someone from a long, heavy target rifle into a lighter, more handy sporter. It would certainly fill your needs for some winter indoor training.

Thanks Axel, the price seems a bit high for an altered rifle. I believe I’ll keep looking.
