Walther Sportmodel 22 lr

For your viewing pleasure I have a Walther Sportmodel single shot bolt action 22lr.
This gun was brought back from Germany at the end of WWII by my father along with several other pieces in 1945. Blueing is very good and the stock shows some minor wear. The Bakelite trigger guard is cracked but, I’m looking at ways to repair it.

Lovely example of the commercial configuration of this great little rifle (many, or most were set in a military style full stock). Yours was made in mid to late 1935, just prior to Walther re-setting their serial number system. The Walther Sportmodell rifles with numbers from about 65,000 to above 81,000 were the first ones produced, and the so-called "second series" made after the change of the numbering system began at around 22,000 and ran to around 44,000 with a "W" suffix, designating this model. Thanks for sharing the photos!
