Hello
I am considering driving the 100 miles to look at this rifle. I am sure the dealer won't let me disassemble the rifle to look at proof marks, can you give me any information from the pictures? It is Cabela's Gun Library #7684203. The price has not been reduced yet so after looking at it and deciding if I want it, I will wait for a price reduction. Any information is appreciated.

The rifle is a Mannlicher Schoenauer in 7x64 with a 6 power scope( with windage adj. in the mount). The brand of the scope wasn't given, and there was no "top view", but it looks like a Hensoldt to me. I'm not sure of the model, it has a "Hog Back" stock in 7x64, so I think it is a 1956, or less likely 1952. Axel will be more specific. While I don't estimate the value of a gun I don't have "in hand", their price for this Mannlicher Schoenauer with a name scope in claw mounts, chambered for a world class cartridge, seems to be in line with similar rifles.

Apparently you are talking about the rifle described as " Waffenbrik Steyr ~ Mannlicher ~ 7x64 MM"? This is a pre-WW2 M1925 "high velocity" model with a Zeiss "Zielsechs" 6x light alloy scope (available from 1936) and German style claw mounts. The awful humpback stock is either a special order or custom item, or it was built up by some other stockmaker. Any competent stockmaker can pare it down to the traditional shape and refinish it.
Earmarks of a pre-war M1925 against a post-war model:
Rifle: Inscription "Oesterr. Waffenfabrik-Ges.Steyr" on receiver wall, straight bolt handle, clip guides on receiver bridge, two holes in magazine floorplate making it non-directional, trap buttplate, no additional side or tang safety.
Scope, Zeiss vs. Hensoldt: focusing adjustment by "wing nut" on top of elevation screw instead of ring at rear of tube.
Much rarer than any post-war model. About 6000 made 1925 - 1945 against 61126 post-war models.
