In the latest issue of the Waidmannsheil, issue # 62 Spring 2018 pages 20-21 the Don Kettelkamp Stalking Rifle Match was covered by Bob Woodfill with excellent photos including the rifles used by each shooter. NO mention of the next match, however the past two matches have been held in early October near Rabbit Hash, KY on the Cochran Farm.
The Spring 2017 issue # 60, pages 42-44 listed more details about the match including equipment, ammo, course of fire. It listed Bob Woodfill as the contact with questions rdwoodfill@centurylink.net

I spoke with the owner of the Cochran farm last week and he informed me that the property was in very bad condition due to two separate floods since the Stalking rifle shoot last year. On top of that he mentioned he had lost his main helper who was killed in an automobile accident. He left me with the assumption that the shoot may not happen this fall as planned. We also talked about the double rifle black powder cartridge event at the National Muzzle Loading Rifle association Spring Shoot coming up June 11th. He supplies the plywood plains game targets for the event but his helper also set up the targets and he said he has no one to set them up now. So he was considering canceling that event also. I volunteered to help set up the targets if I had help . He said he would see if he could find someone. So now just weeks away that event is up in the air if it will happen or not. I also talked to the person who has run the rifle shoot at the Vintagers shoot the last wo years it has been in Maryland. This rifle shoot offered an array of categories for Drilling, cape gun, double rifle and stopping rifle. He is adding lever action rifles and combination rifles with scopes this year. Unfortunately he said he is selling the targets after this year and will not be running anymore events so if no one steps up and buys the targets and runs the events this special event will end. All these shooting events take a lot of work to set up and run and with the age of the majority of the people interested makes it even more difficult. I have been happy to see these events all started and was looking forward to shooting at all of them but now it seems they are going away because of lack of help. If we are to keep these events happening people need to step up and volunteer to help. If anyone planned to attend any of these shoots and can possibly arrive early to help set up targets and also help in some other way during the shoot, please contact them and lend your help. It could save the event and keep them going. There are other events in the planning stages being talked about for stalking rifles and combination rifles but we need to support the existing ones and keep them going.
