I am looking at a combination gun that is stamped 9x58 and 8,8mm over 58 on the rifle tube. I know it's not a common round, but does anyone on here reload for it?
Robert,
I don't load 9x58R(AKA 9x58 1/2R Sauer and Son), but I had a friend that did. His was marked 118.35, for the bore diameter, which means it is a little older than yours. He was able to use .358" bullets, and it possible that you could also. He made cases from shortened 9.3x72R cases, but more than likely could have also used original length 38-55( 2.125") cases. Both the 8.8mm and 118,35(ga) marks were also often used for different 9.3 cartridges, loading data for 9.3x57R( metric version of 360 2 1/4", not a rimmed version of 9.3x57 Mauser) would be a good place to start. If I had the chance, I would "jump on it".
