  • 1930's Krieghoff semi-auto rifle

On our visit to Krieghoff, we were asked to find someone who has a 1930's Krieghoff semi-auto rifle with the short gas tube. We featured one with the longer gas tube in our Summer 2001 journal. Anyone having one, please let us know. Krieghoff is hoping to reproduce magazines for one.

Back in the '70's, when I was attempting to sell Krieghoff hunting guns in the US, I was contacted by the company asking me to deal with a person who had approached them about replacement parts for the semi-auto rifle. I did so, and informed him that not only was the rifle no longer made, but all the design materials had gone up in smoke when the Russians demolished the original Krieghoff factory in Suhl. I then asked him if he was interested in selling the incomplete rifle. He was, and we worked out a deal, the upshot of which was that Krieghoff got the incomplete rifle, which I assume they were able to reverse engineer to the point that it functioned. It was the only Krieghoff semi-auto I have ever seen.

They are rare. Since we started looking, we have only found one and that one had the long gas tube.
