As per my previous thread, some full pictures. I've done a gentle restore on this. My previous go to was a drilling (which developed a barrel bulge and wasn't economically repairable) and I felt I went too far with restoring it. Spent ages filling the stock pores, re-chequering, and getting an immaculate finish. Whilst it looked great, it didn't look right. As this is an older gun (1924) I wanted it to retain some of the character.
I scrubbed off the old nasty varnish and raised any more significant dents and scratches, repaired a small gouge in the butt chequering, gave it a low shine oil finish. Action was brightened slightly, still has traces of the original colour case hardening around the trigger guard. Some nice engraving which has come up pleasantly. De-gunked it completely and stripped/re-assembled the action. Rear ramp sight was loose so this has been shimmed and pressed back in, will solder once I have developed a load for it. It is chambered in 8x58R Sauer. Slugged at .318 (which is fortunate as I have a load of heads from my drilling left over).
Both rifle and shot bores are in immaculate condition, so I am hoping its a shooter! Just waiting for the dies......
