  • Sjogren Shotgun

I would like to beg your indulgence for a bit for a question on a non-German gun, as this Sjogren semi-auto shotgun was designed in Sweden and manufactured in Denmark – although this particular specimen has Austrian proofmarks! I ran across this gun at a local show, and was so intrigued by this contraption designed and built by fellow Vikings, that I had to bring it home. I know most of the basic information (inertia operation, manufactured around 1910, etc.), but what I really need are disassembly instructions. It is in dire need of a good cleaning, but I can’t figure out how to take it apart. Does anyone out there have instructions on how to remove the breech bolt/bolt cover for cleaning?

    Norsk,

Been a very long time since I saw one of these but I believe that the bolt stop at the rear of the receiver is spring loaded and when depressed will allow the bolt and carrier to slide off the end. I can't remember if the barrel must be removed first but there is a button by the front end of the magazine that releases the tube and it can be pulled out then another on the receiver that allows the barrel to turn and come off. Again, I could be mistaken as it has been ages since I did one, so good luck. It is an interesting piece.

    Thanks, Dis

      Diz,

You're right, the bolt stop has to get out of the way to allow the carrier to slide off, but it does not depress down. I think it somehow has to be unlatched and pulled up. The sectional drawings I was able to find seem to show some kind of latch on the inside of the receiver. But there is no external slide or button to push. Maybe if I try to hold my mouth a different way……….

        Norsk,

I am almost certain that the stop depressed and I remember there was another matter with the action spring. Perhaps if you dropped the action out of the wood it would all come clear. Maybe if you shuffle your feet just so............

        Thanks, Diz
