blucher, the classic Silvers pad looks great on your rifle. I am sure it's "period correct" as Hugh Silver first patented his recoil pad in 1875. The rifle is carrying the patina of it's years but no real damage beyond the pitting of the bore and I myself think I would leave the metal alone. That's just my opinion but I think it is coming together nicely and with your handloads should be a good shooter as well. Very nice job. Thanks, Diz

Took the old rifle out to a nice spot in the black hills on national forest land. My previous efforts with the rifle were rested on a backpack shooting prone, so I know the rifle can do it's part. Now I decided to see if I could do my part from the prone position...
