  • Columbia Schützenverein event

There will be a shoot hosted by the Columbia Schützenverein on Aug 5-7 held at the Thurmont Conservation Sportsman Club. I have gone to the last few shoots and it is something we are trying to further develop. I generally bring my .22 Schützen and a 8.15 System Jung Schützen rifle. A nice event to just socialize as well.

We had a nice event. While it is open to most single shots, a couple of us are focusing on German Scheibenwaffen. I brought .22 and two 8.15s to shoot. An Aydt and a Jung. When shooters are interested in a side event, we give that a try. I won the "Peabody event" but only by an extra "x" with score of 99-5x. Was only off by 1mm the winning shot in the "hit the squirrel in the eye" .22 event.2-3.jpg5-2.jpg4-2.jpg

Congrats Dreyse!! I sure wish there was some kind of Schuetzen match closer to me. I could at least fill out the bottom half of folks to beat.

I was planning on going but something came up that kept me home. I have a nice Hanel .22 with original peep sights and a 4x unertal scope I could use . Do you shoot scope class too? How about zimmerschuzen's ? I am looking to pick up a 8.15 if I have a place to shoot it. Thurmont isn't too far from me.

I live in Carlisle myself, and just moved there. Yes, you can shoot with scopes. Most do. I will get a Lyman for my Aydt and was thinking of one for my .22. It is a fun event and I made it for 2 of the 3 days. I have a Zimmerstutzen as well, but the closest berm is 50 yards.

Sharps, I did poorly at 200 yards offhand, and it is all for fun. I am brand new to shooting 8.15s and just took up casting bullets.

For most of my life I have been shooting other disciplines (and still do), but I find these to be alot of fun and traditional.
