    Hi Folks,

Nick here from Maine. My father has collected german sporting guns for decades. So I grew up around them. I know just enough to get in big trouble. I hope to learn more here. I hunt a Colt/Sauer Drilling 12/12/30'06 and this year received a Strovner O/U combination gun 16/8x57 jrs.

Funny story: A few years ago I posted pictures on Photobucket (or a similar site. I don't recall). The pictures were of a Martini in .310 cadet that has a plate on the stock which shows inventory markings for a museum in Germany. Apparently someone in Germany found the pictures and went on to publish my name in a magazine as an example of those horrible Americans who pillaged all the museums in Germany after WW2. I was born in 1966. So, as we say in Maine, "T'weren't me". Nor was it my dad, who received the rifle in trade. In any event, Mr. Apel, who contacted us about this issue, was far more concerned about my reputation than am I. I do very much appreciate his concern. Hopefully my status as a war criminal won't interfere with my participation here.

I look forward to my time on the board.

    Nick T.

    Nick,
Welcome, we are glad to have you with us. The reason we have as many prewar guns avaliable is because they were brought here. Otherwise they would have been destroyed or thrown into a river, and wouldn't be avaliable to study.

Welcome Nick! Beautiful state, Maine. Would love to see it again before the good Lord calls me home. You're definitely in the right place to learn. I've been here maybe 3 years and all I can and will say is all these guys are great. That first fella who welcomed you has been a God send to me.
