Hi my name is Carl Breitenbach. I inherited a Mannlicher rifle from my father. It came with two boxes of ammunition but only one was the right ammo. Im looking for more of this if possible. Not knowing much about it Ive ordered up quite a bit of ammo that wont work. Im thinking I should just go out and buy an 8mm Mauser,to use up the ammo. Any info will help.IMG_2174.jpg

The ammo you need for your Mannlicher-Schoenauer Model 1908 rifle is the "8x56 Mannlicher-Schoenauer". As you noticed it is not interchangeable with the 8x57 Mauser. AFAIK no major manufacturer lists it any more. The Old Western Scrounger lists it:

Carl,
If you handload, you can load the 8x56 just as easily as 8x57. If you have 8x57 dies already, you can shorten them (either with a sharp carbide tool in the lathe or with a grinder).
Trim the cases to length and screw the sizing die in a little at a time, until a sized case chambers. Once the sizing die is set, the loading can proceed as normal.
