Hi, I have been active on the ASSRA site for a long time and have always been intrested in fine qulaity German firearms of all type. I know own 2 system Aydt rifle, one plain and one engraved. And several other single shot rifles including a Sharps Borchardt in 8.15X46R on a commercial action. The barrel is marked Krupp fluid steel Eisen I think.
Any idea on what time period this barrel may be from?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hey Mike...

First of all welcome to the GGCA web site, glad to have you. As I'm pretty new here myself that's about all I can do.....I have no knowledge of your rifle....but I'm learning every day. Nice rifle, the Borchardt.

      Mike,
Is the Borchardt an orginal action, or a newly made one? If it is new, the barrel may also be new(relatively); Lothar Walther makes barrels suitable for this caliber, but I don't remember if they use Krupp steel. Since eisen is iron, the word is likely Essen( a city in the Ruhr(?) Valley) instead. If the action is an original one, it may have been rebarreled with a new barrel; but it may have been rebarreled with an old barrel, from a German rifle. If this is the case, it is likely to have proof or other marks still on it. If there are still marks on it, a description or photos of the marks may help date the barrel. Indeed, it may even be dated. On the otherhand, if it is an old barrel with all markings removed, it could be dated from the 1880s to 1945.
      I hope this helps.
      Mike
