    Mike, I see only the usual hodgepodge of unidentifiable worker's marks under the receiver. I am more interested in that barrelmaker's mark below the 7/28 proof date. I have seen that mark before, but I can not identify it yet.

        Also to all, forgot to mention I partially removed the butt plate for a moment to see if there were any "treasures", and found only what you see in this image. As Yukon Cornelius would say... "Nuthin"

          Axel,
          I took note of the "A", because of the recent thread on pre WW1 " lunch box special" actions and the resulting court cases. I did think it would have been pretty late( 1928) to have been one of those. I saw the barrel mark also, but couldn't get it clear enough to see. JustFrank did a good job of clearing it up, but I still don't recognize what it is either, even though it is familiar.
