  • Greetings, what have I gotten myself into?

Hello all, I stumbled on this forum a few weeks ago after my dad gave me "an old shotgun" he had bought in the 50's and barely used. I started researching, and now am completely obsessed in finding out more about drilling guns, and now I catch myself looking at cape gun listings online... I think I may have come down with Gun Acquisition Syndrome.

I look forward to learning what I can from the vast knowledge base on this forum.

    Thanks!

    Mister Dark,
First of all, welcome, we are glad to have you with us. You can learn the most, and be most satisfied, by joining the German Gun Collectors Assn. As a member, you will be entitled to our two publications, " WAIDMANNSHEIL" and "DER WAFFENSCHMEID". Despite the titles, the publications are written in English. Additionally, you would receive a worthwhile discount on many other publications available to members. You can find out about joining by going to the main website. If you post photos of your gun, including all markings, most importantly the proof marks ( found by removing the barrels and looking on the bottom) we will likely be able to provide you with interesting information. "Gun Acquisition Syndrome" is mot a fatal disease, but it is chronic.

I too wish to give you a hearty welcome Mister Dark and I'll second Mike's suggestion of joining the GGCA....and offer my condolences on your recently discovered addiction. Be forewarned, there is no 12 step program.

          Mister Dark,

Welcome to the forum and yes you should join the club as well. Sharps is a little mixed up about the 12 step program. There actually is one and it goes something like this. Step 1: Find out all you can about the gun you already have. Step 2: Investigate and buy another. Step 3: Do it again. Step 4 Keep doing it.

You may find more than 12 steps are necessary as there is no cure for this. Looking forward to seeing your shotgun. Diz
